Merry Christmas, Darling Quilt Along: Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of the Chenille-It Quilt Along using the Merry Christmas, Darling panel from Lella Boutique’s Berry and Pine collection for Moda Fabrics. Last week, we learned the basics of Chenille-It and jumped right into stitching the 3/8 White Chenille-It on the lettering in the center of the panel. (If you missed the video tutorial, you can catch up on Week 1 here.)

For Week 2, we’ll finish up the design by outlining all of the floral elements and motifs of the panel.

Week 2: The Floral Elements and Motifs

Today’s class is another video tutorial available on the Chenille-It YouTube Channel. If you loved last week’s video, you’ll love this one too!

The technique is the same, but this time we’re outlining all the floral elements. You’ll notice a pattern emerge:

— Glue and stitch down the background elements first (petals and flower centers)
— THEN stitch the stems and leaves over the top.

Watch the Merry Christmas, Darling QAL Week 2 Video Here

This week’s video is a bit longer than usual because the panel is packed with gorgeous details, and I wanted to walk you through each and every motif. In the video description, I’ve included time stamps for the different flowers, stems, and elements so you can easily jump to the parts you need.

I like to work in sections or quadrants, but you can also work flower by flower or motif by motif — whatever works best for you!

This week, you’ll be using the following 3/8” Chenille-It colors:

  • Just Peachy — Flower petals
  • Red — Flower petals / peach flower centers
  • Tangerine — Red flower centers
  • Black — Peach flower leaves and stems
  • Evergreen — Red flower leaves and stems
  • Grey — Silver stems
  • Jade — Holly leaves
  • White — Holly Stems/veins
