Raw Edge Appliqué vs. Chenille-It Finish – Which One Wins?

Raw edge appliqué is a favorite technique for quilters who love quick and creative designs. By cutting fabric shapes and stitching them directly onto a background with exposed edges, you can create intricate patterns without the extra work of turning edges under. Over time, though, those raw edges can fray, which adds a rustic charm but isn’t always the look you want.

That’s where Chenille-It comes in!

Instead of leaving the edges raw, simply stitch a strip of Chenille-It over them. Once washed, the Chenille-It blooms into a soft, plush finish, eliminating fraying while adding texture and dimension.

Which Method is Right for You?

Both traditional raw edge appliqué and Chenille-It finished appliqué have their place in the quilting world!
